Dining Around Town: Casual Chain Crawl @ Whataburger (Brentwood)

Details + RSVP Here!

For 2026 we are introducing a new category of our popular Dining Around Town Series called... Casual Chain Crawl with Cristina!

Since this group began, we have consciously tried to avoid be chain restaurants in favor of supporting small and local businesses. However with such a multicultural group, it is not surprising that multiple members have expressed interest in checking out some of the most popular American chain restaurants as a cultural dining experience of sorts.

One of our most passionate members, "Italian Cristina", has volunteered to host this series and has researched and hand selected the locations which are all over the greater Nashville area.

For this event, we are heading to... Whataburger!

ABOUT from web:
On Aug. 8, 1950, an adventurous and determined entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson opened up the world’s first Whataburger on Ayers Street in Corpus Christi, Texas. He had a simple goal: to serve a burger so big it took two hands to hold and so good that after one bite customers would say, “What a burger!” He succeeded on both counts and turned that one little burger stand into a legend loved throughout Texas and the South.

Today, each and every Whataburger is made to order, right when it’s ordered. And they’re still made with 100 percent pure, never-frozen beef and served on a big toasted five-inch bun with all “the extras” to suit your taste. Grilled jalapeños, extra bacon, three slices of cheese, no tomatoes, extra pickles? No problem. Your Whataburger will be made just like you like it, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Whataburger’s following has grown exponentially in its more than 75-year history, thanks to a number of features, including its famous burgers and growing list of menu items, its iconic orange-and-white-striped restaurants and its famous Fancy Ketchup.

Whataburger is more than a burger chain. It’s a place that feels like home to more than 51,000 employees, called Family Members, and millions of customers. It’s a brand built on pride, care and love. It’s a place people count on in their communities. It’s a place where goodness lives.

Volunteer: Building the Forge

Details + RSVP Here!

Did you know... according to an article published by Higher Perspective, one of the best ways to make yourself feel happier is to help others. In fact, 100 hours per year (or two hours per week) is the optimal time we should each be dedicating to helping others in order to enrich our own lives.

What better way to help others than by volunteering?
____

This time, we are going to help… BUILD THE FORGE!

What is The Forge Nashville?
Founded in 2012, the Forge Nashville is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in a 23,000 square foot facility in the Railyard District near the Cumberland river. The Forge offers a massive makerspace, wood and metal shops, art gallery, private creative offices, and artist studios geared specifically for the artisans and creative misfits of Nashville.

In our aim to serve the greater community, The Forge focuses on not only a wealth of resources for any aspiring creative, but also on offering opportunities to the underserved. Our youth initiative, Forge Future Makers, gives at-risk youth the chance to discover their potential through hands-on making. For fine artists in need of studio space, we are proud to offer Nashville’s only program of its kind, STATE Gallery + Studios. For hopeful small business owners who wish to turn their hobby into a sustainable income, we have a curriculum of business classes and subsidized shop space for those in need.

No matter your creative medium, you can find resources and a vibrant community at the Forge. We support artists by offering access to professional equipment and classes, affordable work space, scholarships, public and private events.
http://www.theforgenashville.org

WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO?
The Forge Nashville is entering an exciting new chapter, and we’re looking for hands-on volunteers to help bring our new space to life. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a creative community buildout—supporting artists, makers, and future programming from the ground up.

No specialized skills are required—just a willingness to jump in and help. However, if you have specialized skills related to construction, electrical, fabrication, drywall, etc - please message us via the Hands On portal and tell us what skilled labor areas you are able to fulfill or help with.

Volunteer General Labor May Include:
Painting walls, trim, and hallways
Cleaning and preparing studio and common areas
Organizing tools, materials, and supplies
Assisting with light moving and setup of furniture/equipment
Basic assembly or installation support
General labor to support buildout needs as they arise

Scheduling & Commitment:
If your schedule allows, we strongly encourage signing up for multiple shifts—this helps us maintain momentum and move the project forward more efficiently.

Safety:
Must wear closed toes shoes (heavy shoes or work boots preferred)
PPE Provided on-site
First aid kits on-site
Water provided
Absolutely no drugs or alcohol on site

Come be part of building something meaningful. Your support helps create a lasting home for Nashville’s creative community.

Popeyes!

ABOUT from web:
Founded in 1972, the Popeyes brand has more than 50 years of history and culinary tradition. Popeyes owes its beginnings to entrepreneur and culinary innovator, Al Copeland. With one small restaurant and a big idea, Copeland introduced New Orleans style fried chicken that has now made the brand famous throughout the world. Our culinary heritage is built upon the rich Cajun and creole flavor profiles that are unmistakably Louisiana. We continuously draw upon and celebrate this heritage to inspire new, authentic menu creations the world craves. Popeyes distinguishes itself with a unique New Orleans style menu featuring spicy chicken, chicken tenders, fried shrimp, and other regional items. This unique and flavorful food has allowed Popeyes to become one of the world's largest chicken quick service restaurants with over 2,700 restaurants in the U.S. and around the world. Meet your host, Chef Melody: I have been in the kitchen cooking for as long as I can remember. My father had a large collection of cookbooks, many of them from other countries. I would read every single word, like it was a novel, and then decide which recipes I could realistically make. When the opportunity presented itself for me to attend Boston University culinary program in my 30s, I jumped at the chance. After a year + working in Cooks Illustrated Test Kitchen, I knew I wanted to teach and share my love of cooking with others!

Join us for this unique fresh pasta making workshop! You will learn how to hand roll the ancient Tuscan shaped pasta called "Pici" (pronounced peachy :). Each guest will make their own dough, including kneading (bring your muscles!), cutting and shaping each strand by hand. While you work your host will throw together a rustic mushroom, shallot ragu (vegan option available) so we can give this special pasta a try at the end of workshop. You are in for quite the treat! Each guest will take home all the pasta they make to use within one day or freeze for up to a month!

TEDxNashville: Mixtape - Every Story Has A Song

Details + RSVP Here!

Join us for another TedxNashville talk... Mixtape – Every Story Has A Song!

ABOUT:
Can music bridge the distance between two very different lives?
In this live experiment, Come Together Music Project founder Shaka Mitchell invites two guests from opposite worlds to answer a series of personal questions — where every answer must be a song.

As the conversation unfolds, we’ll hear the music, the stories behind it, and the surprising overlaps that emerge along the way. What begins as two distinct playlists slowly becomes a shared soundtrack — revealing how music can connect us across difference, identity, and experience.
This is more than a talk. It’s part listening party, part social experiment, part TED-style exploration of what unites us when words fall short.
And because this is TEDxNashville, the audience plays a role too.
Attendees will receive a prompt to submit their own “song answers” before the event — a few will be featured live, woven into the evening’s dialogue.

COST:
$35 - Buy your ticket here!
