• Meetup is a social media platform for hosting and organizing in-person and virtual activities, gatherings, and events for people and communities of similar interests, hobbies, and professions.

It was founded in 2002 and according to meetup.com
Meetup creates possibilities to find and build local communities. People use Meetup to meet new people, learn new things, find support, get out of their comfort zones, and pursue their passions, together.

This group was started on Meetup on December 25, 2024 and we have since expanded our presence to other social media platforms for visibility and member communication. We continue to use the Meetup platform to manage RSVPs for our events, track attendance and communicate updates.

  • I’m an experienced hospitality/travel professional as well as veteran Meetup host. I’m a frequent transplant, and new to Nashville (as of Nov 2024).

Whenever I move somewhere new I love researching and creating a bucket list of all the quintessential experiences to have in the area.
I've got a list started and am excited to start adventuring!

I'm looking forward to socializing over a cup of coffee/tea, engaging in lively discussions and exploring all that Nashville has to offer!

Otherwise known as a “transplant tour guide” and “friendship fairy”.

    My Meetup profile says...
I've been somewhat of a nomad over the past few years. I've used Meetup all over the world and have met some amazing people.

    What her profile doesn't say...
I’ve met some of my best friends through Meetups in Washington state, Texas, Nevada and even in Australia!

    Oh, and that profile picture?
The one with the signature green fleece and the mountain - it was taken on a bucket list trip in a helicopter on a glacier above the Milford Sound in New Zealand!

  • Founding Members are folks that have been with this group since the beginning/month 1, make regular appearances at our events and can be counted on to help others feel welcome!

Our founding members are: “OG“ Joe, Danny, “Sparky” Joe, Stedwin, Craig, Josh, Suresh and Tash!

  • While I host 95% of our events I’m also happy to have some help.
As of May 2025 I’ve added a few official co-hosts - Danny, “Sparky” Joe & Tash!

Sometimes they will be co-hosting with me, sometimes with each other, or sometimes solo.

Welcome to Nashville Social!

What People are Saying

    • Update your RSVP if your plans have changed. This group has a generous 3 no-show policy, after which time you will be removed from the Meetup group.

    • Be Respectful - Vulgar or offensive language toward group members or service industry staff will not be tolerated.

    • The goal is to make everyone feel safe, and if you don’t feel safe because of someone’s actions, please let me know either in person, sending a Meetup message or an email to me here.

    • In an effort to maintain an active and engaged community, members who have been inactive for 3 months will be removed from the Meetup group.

  • There is no cost to join Nashville Social, however some events may require a registration or participation fee. Depending on the event, the fee may need to be paid in advance or upon arrival. Specific details will be in the event description.

At this time I am NOT asking for donations for running the group - please disregard any messages you may be receiving from Meetup on this subject.

Many of you have asked how you can show your appreciation for my efforts.
If you'd like to buy me a coffee you can do so via Venmo @ Bonnie-Puntasecca.
Please know this is not required or expected, and the suggestion came from a few group members.

  • No. There are other Meetup groups for that, but this is a social group for folks looking to meet new people and make new friends while engaged in new experiences!

  • Many members of the group have expressed appreciation for the age range as it helps to find and connect with others in similar life stages. While we do have a few members on either side of the range, (old souls and young at heart), we do try to stick to the 30s-40s.

There are several other groups focused on other age ranges or without age ranges.

  • Most of our events permit bringing a guest however the event description will have specific details.

If you are unable to add a guest to your RSVP, want to bring more than one, or your guest will no longer be coming, let me know and I can adjust on my end. It is important to let me know so we can get an accurate headcount.

  • I monitor all event waitlists closely. Always add your name to a waitlist if you are interested in attending an event. Many folks change their RSVPs a day or two before the event. I do my best to give the folks on the waitlist an opportunity to join the event.

  • Our goal is to have a variety of events with some regular monthly series! New experiences including opportunities to connect with new people, hobbies, food, businesses etc.

We aim for budget friendly, and try to stay away from alcohol focused events, although in most cases it will be available at the venues.

We strive to support local businesses and try our best to take parking into consideration.

  • We love event suggestions! Feel free to message Bonnie on Meetup or via email at bonnie@nashvillesocial.org.

We try to incorporate as many event suggestions as possible however if we are unable to create an official event, you can always make the suggestion as a “side quest” on the Meetup Discussion Board or Blog Post.

  • My goal is to provide high quality welcoming events that folks want to return to. I read every review to see how I can improve.

I appreciate text comments in the reviews as well, but please know that due to a recent meetup change everyone can see them now.

This is how I think about the 5 star ratings:
5 star - It was great + can't wait for the next event
4 star - It was good + look forward to what's next
3 star - It was ok + would likely not return
2 star - I did not like + would not return
1 star - So bad did not stay for the whole event

  • We love supporting local businesses! If you’d like to partner with us or have an idea for an event or location, feel free to send a message to bonnie@nashvillesocial.org.
