Meetup or ?
Many members have asked if we plan to remain on Meetup or move to a different platform.
For the time being, the plan is to stay with Meetup even though the fees are $300+/yr.
I’ve been a member of Meetup for over 15 years, and it definitely has advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages include:
Age/longevity - it’s been around awhile
Global reach/use - I’ve used it in multiple states and countries
Free for members
Attendance feature including no show and inactivity tracking
Chat, Discussion + Announcement features
Support + ongoing fixes/improvements
Disadvantages include:
Cost for organizers ($300+/yr)
Another log in/platform
Confusing paywall pop ups
Notifications - inconsistent
