Halloween in Nashville…

Guest host and contributor… Michelle from LA!

Hi, I'm Michelle and I love theatre. I consume it in any way I can--and what is more theatre than Halloween Haunted Houses? My qualifications: I love Halloween, I am a long time patron of the arts, and I know a good production when I see one. I have been eager to experience Nashville's haunted attractions, and these 3 were picked for their different vibes: Creepy Hollow Woods, Slaughterhouse, and Nashville Nightmare.

Creepy Hollow Woods - Spring Hill, TN
We visited on 10/25/25…
This haunted attraction was already further from Nashville than any place I have explored with Bonnie, and the dark road and clouds helped create the perfect creepy mood!
Once we arrived, there was an open waiting area with bonfires and scare actors walking around. Groups of up to 6 were allowed in at a time, and we almost never saw another group because they really did take the time to spread everyone out.
I chose this haunted attraction because it is a large property, is independently owned, and it helps give back to the community since it could not operate last year due to the tornadoes. They promised an even scarier experience and they truly used every inch of it to their advantage. There were a ton of jump scares, creative spaces, and even some light group participation--so make sure to pick the bravest one in the group to get the seance started!
My favorite: Sinking into the swampy floor as man-eating alligators surround the group.
Cost: $36
My Rating: 8/10

Slaughterhouse - Hermitage, TN
We visited on 10/26/25…
Slaughterhouse was chosen because it is the longest running haunted attraction in Nashville--celebrating its 39th season!
The space here was limited but SO creative. Prepare to go up/down steep ramps, duck down into small doors, and feel like you're in a movie set as Jason stalks you from room to room. Sets/scenes were so detailed and fun, and it made me truly appreciate the hard work and creativity (in-between jumping 3 feet in the air as scare actors came out of nowhere). Out of all 3 attractions, this one had the most actors scaring the group, and their timing was always excellent.
My favorite: Having a true Scooby-Doo moment as groups try to find their way out of the many doors, hallways, and nooks that just lead you back to the main room! Really challenged group dynamics as the frustration of being stuck got higher and higher. Second highlight was escaping through the butchery as people in pig-heads frantically usher you out. I love a good theme!
Cost: $37.64
My Rating: 8/10

Nashville Nightmare - Madison, TN
We visited on 10/28/25…
Last (but certainly not least), Nashville Nightmare was chosen because it is the highest rated haunted attraction in Nashville. This was truly the most immersive in terms of theatrical story telling and scenic design that totally transported us into different worlds. The 4 haunted houses were split into 2, which was nice since it allowed the group to recover before the next round. They had refreshments, bars, merch stands--truly a well oiled operation!
My favorite: Everything was stunning! Some of the highlights included walking through a castle where dozens of knights met their death to Medusa's stare, stumbling onto the giant dragon's lair, escaping through the slanted deck of a sinking ship, and dodging demon nuns while the floor is literally crumbling under your feet.
Cost: $41.88
My Rating: 8.5/10
